Do-It-Yourself Air Purifier with T-Rex Tape

Thanks to Influenster who provided me with ultra-strong #complimentary TRexTape I was able to build a DIY home air purifier with little effort.

I used for my project a 20" box fan, a Lennox Corporation X7935 20X20X5 MERV 16 FILTER as main filter, Smilie Cut-to-Fit Synthetic Air Filter, MERV 4, 20 x 30 x 1-Inch as prefilter, and to hold the main filter to the front of the box fan, I used T-Rex tape. It works very well. The T-Rex tape makes a strong seal and no air escapes at the sides, so all air gets pushed through the main filter. As the Lennox Filter needs to be replaced only once a year, I'm happy the T-Rex tape is so durable and I'm confident it can last holding my filter a year. Weeks have passed and no sign the T-Rex tape is peeling off.

Concerning the pre-filter, no tape is needed. I used longer screws to attach it to the back of the box fan so I can remove them easily as they're reusable and washable.

Of course, the air flow is reduced but I noticed quite a difference after 1 hour of having used my DIY air filter. My indoor air smells fresher. And weeks later, I see practically no dust on my furniture.
