🌊 AquaTru 🚰

My conventional under-sink reverse osmosis system broke down. Even though I love the clean taste of RO filtered water, I didn’t look forward to install another unit below the sink. I still remember the struggle I had installing the now defective RO unit below the kitchen sink where the space is so tight I could barely move my arms.

So, I started to look for countertop RO filters. Fortunately, there are various models now on the market. There are faucet-mount RO fiters that are quite cheap but are very slow in producing filtered water and don’t look good, see for yourself reverseosmosisrevolution.com/Budget-Portable-RO/
There is the ZIP Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filter which doesn’t need to be connected to the faucet. I simply have to fill a tank, plug it into a power outlet and it pumps the tap water through the filters to produce clean, fresh RO water that is collected in another tank. At first, I thought it’s great as there’s no plumbing needed. Yet, the convenience of the ZIP comes with a big price tag: $599

The AquarePure Reverse Osmosis Water Purifier is similar to the ZIP unit. It also has a tap water and filtered water tank (BPA-free), no plumbing required. Yet, it’s much less expensive, over $300 less than ZIP (at time of writing).
Besides the lower price, what ultimately made me buy the AquaPure are the affordable replacement filters, low maintenance, compact design and filter status indicator. So, I ordered my AquaTru unit last November.
Setting up the AquaTru is merely cleaning the tanks before first use and placing it onto the base, installing the clearly labeled filters and let 4 tap water tanks run through the filters before drinking.

What I especially like about the AquaTrue is that you can place it anywhere you like. I have mine in the living room so it won’t take up counterspace in my kitchen and is easily accessible for everybody. By the way, one unit is enough to comfortably still the thirst of up to 4 people.

If you plan to get an AquaTru, be aware that you have to empty the tap water tank completely before each refill or it will start getting scaled. Also, to ensure long filter life, refill the tap water tank with filtered water once a week and let it run through the filters. This will flush them out. I do that every 5 days as I use my AquaTru also for cooking and my pets. Above all, you should read the short but very important manual before use.

In case you wonder how efficient the AquaTru is, my TDS meter measures 198ppm for my tap water and 11ppm for my filtered water.

There is also a nice video on how the AquaTru “converts” cola into pure water ;)

Below is a video of me unboxing the AquaTru and setting it up.
